Ellena Paparizou

Elena Paparizou (Greek pronunciation: Elena Paparizou; born 31 January 1982) is a singer from Greece and Sweden and songwriter. Her birthplace was in Sweden to Greek parents. After finishing her schooling and a career in music, she started her professional life in Sweden as an artist. In 1999, she was a member of the Eurodance duo Antique (Greek folk music) and, in 2003, she released her hit track "Anapandites Kliseis". Although the album's sales were limited, Paparizou signed a solo recording contract with Sony Music. She was a representative of Greece in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest with "My Number One" and was the winner song. It was her first victory in the history of contests and changed her career. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry of Greece has since declared her album double platinum. Paparizou attempted to establish a name for herself in the world of English-language music and charted in a few countries other than Greece. Her next albums, Iparhi Logos (2006) and The Game of Love (2006) both reached the top of the charts at one in Greece. They also sold platinum. Platinum was also given to her fifth studio album, Giro Apo To Oneiro (2010).
