The song "Angie" was released from The Rolling Stones from England appeared on their 1973 album Goats Head Soup. It also served as the first single from the album, released on 20 August 1973.The song is credited as many Rolling Stones songs are, to both Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, but it is acknowledged as being written almost entirely by Richards, with Jagger being the primary contributor to the lyrics. "Angie" was written in November and December of 1972. It is an acoustic , guitar-driven ballad about the end of a romance. The song's distinctive piano accompaniment, written by Richards and performed on the album by Nicky Hopkins, a Rolling Stones session-recording regular. The strings in the song (as as in another song, "Winter") were composed by Nicky Harrison. One of the peculiarities of the original recording is that singer Mick Jagger's vocal track (made prior to the time that the vocals are sung) is faintly audible throughout the track (an effect often referred to as a "ghost vocal").
