Brian Anthony Boitano (born October 22nd 1993) is an American figure skater from Sunnyvale, California. He is the 1988 Olympic Champion, the 1986 and 1988 World Champion and the 1985-1988 U.S. National Champion. After 1988, he became a professional. Under new rules by the ISU, he returned to competition in 1993. He also competed in the 1994 Winter Olympics, where he placed sixth. He returned to the professional level. He was inducted into both the United States Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1996. Along with many other skaters, helped push the boundaries of technical men's skating. In 1982, Boitano became the first American to complete a triple Axel. In 1987, he introduced his signature jump, the 'Boitano triple Lutz', in which the skater raises his left arm over his head. He attempted a quadruple jump throughout the 1986-87 season as well as at the 1988 World Figure Skating Championships,
