Christina Maria Aguilera, (/aegI’le@r@/; Spanish pronunciation: [agi’lera]), is an American actress, singer and a television host. Her birth date was December 18th, 1980. She is known for her high-pitched voice and her four-octave range. Aguilera rose to stardom through her debut album, titled "Eponymous and is recognized as having contributed to the revival of teen-pop during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Her work, which combines feminism, homosexuality, and domestic violence, has earned both controversy and praise. Aguilera is frequently mentioned by other artists as having an influence. After appearing in television programs, Aguilera signed with RCA Records in 1998. Her debut album spawned three Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles -- "Genie in a Bottle", "What a Girl Wants" and "Come On Over Baby (All I Want is You)" -which earned her the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Her debut Spanish album, Mi Reflejo (2000) was released as a bubblegum pop record. It was a top contender on the Billboard Top Latin Albums charts for nineteen weeks.
