Elizabeth Taylor

 Dame Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor DBE (February 27, 1932 - March 23 2011,) was an American-born British actress. Her career began as a child actress in the 1940s, and became one of the most well-known stars of the classical Hollywood film in the 1950s. In the 1960s, she was the highest-paid movie star in the world and remained a prominent public figure throughout her lifetime. In 1999 the American Film Institute named her the seventh-greatest female screen legend in Classic Hollywood cinema.Born in London to prominent socially minded American parents, Taylor moved with her family to Los Angeles in 1939. She made her acting debut by playing a small part in the Universal Pictures film There's One Born Every Minute (1942) However, the studio cut her contract after one year. The studio then signed her to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and became a well-known teen star after appearing in National Velvet (1944). She transitioned to mature roles in the 1950s, when she appeared in the comedy Father of the Bride (1950) and was praised by critics for her role in the dramatic A Place in the Sun (1951).
