Jennifer Kate Hudson, also known as J.Hud (born 12 September 1981) is an American actor, singer and talk-show host. She has received numerous awards for her contributions to the fields of television, film theatre, and recording songs throughout her professional career. Hudson was the first African-American woman, and also the youngest, to be awarded the four most prestigious American entertainment awards: Emmy (Grammy), Oscar, Tony (EGOT) and Oscar (Oscar). In 2013, she was presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Time declared her one of the 100 most influential individuals worldwide in 2020. She rose to fame as a finalist in American Idol's season three in 2004, where she placed seventh. In 2006 she made her feature debut on the screen with Dreamgirls as Effie the role, which featured her as the character of Effie White. She took home the Academy Award in Best Supporting Actress for the musical, and became the youngest African American winner of a competition acting competition. Hudson was signed to Arista Records in 2008 and released her debut studio album, called "Hunter" and was certified Gold in the US, UK and won the Grammy Award as Best R&B Album.
