Mariah Carey, born March 27 1969 was an American singer-songwriter, actress, record producer, and actress. She is known as "Songbird Supreme" or "Queen of Christmas" and is known for her vocal range of five octaves and signature whistle use. Carey became a household name through her debut album. She was the first musician to have her first five singles achieve the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, from "Vision of Love" to "Emotions".Carey's debut album was released under the direction of Columbia Records executive Tommy Mottola who she later married three years later. The albums of Carey Music Box (1993), Merry Christmas (944) and Daydream (1995) were able to achieve further success. The singles featured "Hero"," "Without You",," "All I Need to Give for Christmas is You", "Fantasy" and "Always Be My Baby" that all made it to the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 decade ending chart (1990s). Carey changed his image after his split from Mottola and added hip-hop influences to Butterfly (1997).
