Clifford Smith Jr. was born March 2, 1971. He is more well-known as Method Man. He is a part of the East Coast hip-hop collective Wu-Tang Clan. He is also half the hip-hop duo Method Man & Redman. The stage name was in reference to the 1979 film Method Man. Smith was initially famous for his role in the 1979 film Method Man. On television, he along with his frequent collaborator and fellow East Coast rapper Redman, played on the short-lived Fox sitcom Method & Red. He also appeared on three HBO series as Tug Daniels, Melvin "Cheese” Wagstaff in The Wire and Rodney in The Deuce. Method Man also appears in the TBS comedy The Last O.G..
