Nicole Mary Kidman AC (born 20 June 1967) is an American and Australian producer and actress. She is well-known for her performances in various television and film productions. Numerous awards have been given to her, including the Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award and two Primetime Emmy Awards. She was also awarded six Golden Globe Awards. Her breakthrough came in 1989, with the action film Dead Calm and the miniseries Bangkok Hilton. Days of Thunder, her action film, was her global breakthrough. The roles she played as a lead in Far and Away (1992), Batman Forever (95), To Die For (95) as well as Eyes Wide Shut (1999) earned her more recognition. In recognition of her performance as writer Virginia Woolf in the drama The Hours (2002), Kidman was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress. Kidman was also awarded Academy Award nominations for her parts in the musical Moulin Rouge!
