He is referred to professionally as Ray J. Born in McComb, Mississippi, and raised in Carson, California, he is the younger brother of actress and record artist Brandy Norwood, and is the first cousin of rapper Snoop Dogg. He was a contestant on the ninth season of Celebrity Big Brother in the UK in January 2017. Willie Norwood Jr. was raised in McComb, Mississippi to Sonja Bates and Norwood. His older sister Brandy, who is a multi-platinum recording artist is his father. He relocated from McComb, Mississippi, to Los Angeles, California with his family early in his life. In 1989, he began appearing in commercials on television for various companies. At the age of eight, Norwood began auditioning for and appearing in TV commercials He was the role of the foster son in The Sinbad Show, from 1993 to 1994. The period of his life would define his career in acting.
