He is an American sports journalist, radio host and presenter on television. Smith is a regular on ESPN's First Take as a commentator with Molly Qerim. Smith also appears frequently as an NBA analyst on SportsCenter. Smith is also an NBA analyst for ESPN in addition to being a broadcaster on ESPN's NBA broadcasts. Smith was also host of the Stephen A. Smith Show, which airs on ESPN Radio. Smith is a columnist in the spotlight for ESPNNY.com, ESPN.com, and The Philadelphia Inquirer.Stephen Anthony Smith was born in the Bronx, a borough of New York City. Smith was raised in Queens in the Hollis section of Queens. Smith is the sixth of six children. Smith has four older siblings as well as one younger brother named Basil who died in a car accident in 1992. His father has one half-brother. Smith's parents came from Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. His father ran an hardware store. Smith's maternal grandmother was white and was his grandma. His grandparents were all black. In 1986, Smith was a graduate of Thomas Edison High School in Queens.
