Angie

"Angie" is a hit song by the English rock group The Rolling Stones, featured on their 1973 album Goats Head Soup. It also served as the lead single from the album's 20 August 1973 release. The song is credited, as many Rolling Stones songs are, to both Mick Jagger and Keith Richards However, it is recognized to be almost completely written by Richards and Richards, with Jagger providing some of the lyrics. "Angie", the acoustic guitar ballad about the ending of a relationship and was recorded between November 1972 and December 1972. The unique piano accompaniment, composed by Richards and performed on the album by Nicky Hopkins, a Rolling Stones session regular. The strings in the song (as as the other track, "Winter") were recorded by Nicky Harrison. A unique aspect of the original recording is the fact that singer Mick Jagger's vocal guide track (made before the final vocals were recorded) is faintly audible throughout the song (an effect sometimes called a "ghost vocal").
