Marshall Bruce Mathers III, born on 17 October 1972, is an American producer and rapper. The rap's popularity is well-known and he is frequently cited as being one of the most powerful rappers of all time. The worldwide success of Eminem and his critically acclaimed work is widely believed to have broken the racial barriers that had previously prevented the white rapper from becoming embraced in the mainstream music scene. While his actions in the latter part of 1990 and early 2000s were controversial, he quickly became an icon of American anger and was widely praised for his achievements. Eminem signed with Dr. Dre and achieved mainstream success through his 1999 album The Slim Shady LP. The two albums that followed, The Marshall Mathers LP (2000), as well as The Eminem Show (2002) were his second.
