Fernando Jose Torres Sanz, Spanish pronunciation"fer'nando ‘tores"; was born 20 March 1984. He was an ex-footballer and striker manager from Spain. Torres was third in the Ballon d'Or 2008 and was named as a member of the FIFA World XI 2008 and 2009. He finished his time at Madrid with 75 goals in the 174 La Liga games. After signing for a record club transfer fee, Torres joined Liverpool Premier League club in 2007. The first year at Anfield was when he became Liverpool's first player to score more than 20 league goals per season since Robbie Fowler (1995-96). He was the top goal scorer during his career, and was the fastest Liverpool player to score 50 league goals. In the period 2007-2010, Torres was often regarded as the top striker around the globe.
