Francine York

Francine York (born Francine Yerich; August 26, 1936 - January 6 7) was an American model and actress. Francine YerickYork was also her birth name. She soon got a job at Bimbo's San Francisco nightclub as a showgirl. Mary Meade French (Bimbo's headliner) introduced Francine to Hollywood, and helped her find an agent. Francine worked as a showgirl at Frank Sennes' Moulin Rouge, a popular Hollywood nightclub on Sunset Blvd., where she performed in three shows a night, seven nights per week, for six months. Tired of sharing a stage with elephants, pigeons and even horses, she began taking acting classes with actor/teacher Jeff Corey. She was spotted by a producer of theatre in Whisper in God's Ear, a production at the Circle Theatre. Her first film role was Secret File: Hollywood in 1960. The film was directed by Robert Clarke but was not released until 1962. Her breakthrough came when Jerry Lewis cast her in It's Only Money where she was a captivating sexpot and sexpot, a role that earned her much publicity.
