Jennifer Kate Hudson, also called J.Hud (born September 12, 1981) is an American actress, singer, and talk-show host. She has won numerous awards for her contributions to television, film theatre, and recording songs throughout her professional career. Hudson became the youngest and second African-American woman to be awarded the four most prestigious American entertainment awards, which include Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony (EGOT). In addition, she was awarded an award on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2013. Time named her one the 100 most influential people around the world in the year 2020. She gained notoriety as a finalist in American Idol's third season 2004 where she was seventh. In 2006 she made her feature film debut with Dreamgirls as Effie white in the musical Dreamgirls. She won the Academy Award in Best Supporting Actress for the film and became the youngest African-American winner of a competition acting category.
