Jewel Kilcher, born May 23rd, 1974 was an American actor, singer and songwriter. She was born on May 23, 1974, in Homer, Alaska. Her father is an active local musician. At the age of 15, when she was awarded a part-time award to attend the Interlochen Arts Academy, Michigan. She studied operatic voice. She began to perform in coffeehouses and clubs in San Diego after she graduated from high school. The local media and was offered an album deal with Atlantic Records. Pieces of You was her debut album. It would go on to become one of the most popular debut albums ever and was certified platinum 12 times. The album's debut single, "Who Will Save Your Soul" was a top-ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 11. Two other singles, "You Were Meant For Me" and "Foolish Games" were also included in the 1997 annual singles chart. This Way (2001) was her follow-up album.
