Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Brianne Clarkson was born April 24, 1982. She is an American singer-songwriter, author and a television host. After winning the 2002 season of American Idol, she was able to gain a record contract with RCA. The debut single "A Moment Like This" was a top hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was the most-sold country single in 2002. It was part of her debut album Thankful (2003) that was released on the top spot of the Billboard 200. Looking to redefine her look, Clarkson parted ways with Idol management and switched towards pop-rock for her sophomore studio album, Breakaway (2004). Breakaway was backed by four US Top Ten singles, including the title song, "Since U Have Been Gone", "Behind These Hazel Eyes", "Because of You", and "Because of You". The album was sold to more than 12 million copies in the world, and she won two Grammy Awards. Clarkson also took creative control of her third studio album, My December (2006) by writing all songs, and also serving as its executive producer. But her label was not happy with the album's darker rock music and pushed it back.
