Lil KIm

Kimberly Denise Jones, born July 11, 1974, also known as Lil' Kim , is an American rapper and reality TV star. Her birthplace was in Brooklyn, New York City and was raised there. After being kicked out of her family home, she spent a lot of her youth in the streets. Jones started freestyle rapping during her teens, and was inspired by female hip-hop artists like Lady of Rage and MC Lyte. The singer was asked to join The Notorious B.I.G.'s Junior M.A.F.I.A. in 1994 by a rapper who was also a friend. The group's debut album, Conspiracy, was released in 1994. It was certified double platinum and had two of the top 20 songs in America. The album was the first female-oriented hip-hop album to be released in America at the time. The Notorious K.I.M. was her second album. Platinum certification was also awarded to La Bella Mafia (2001) and Lil' Kim (2001). 2001 saw Lil' Kim climb to number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 featured the single "Lady Marmalade" which was a remake of LaBelle's single from 1974, along with Mya, Pink and Christina Aguilera.
