Sir Michael Philip Jagger, born on July 26, 1943 is an English singer/songwriter. He is best known for his work as the leader vocalist and founder member of the band The Rolling Stones. His songwriting partnership with Keith Richards remains one of the most successful partnerships in music history. Jagger's professional career spans more than six decades and he is called one of the most well-known and influential rock stars in the history of music. His distinctive voice and lively live shows, as well as Richards guitar style have been the Rolling Stones' trademark throughout the band's career. Jagger's drug addiction and romantic relationships gained him a lot of press interest. He was also portrayed as a countercultural figure. Jagger was born in Dartford. He attended the London School of Economics before leaving his studies to join the Rolling Stones. Jagger and Richards have co-written most of the Rolling Stones songs, and they continue to collaborate on music. In the latter half of the 1960s, Jagger starred in the films Performance (1970) and Ned Kelly (1970), to mixed reviews.
