Robert John Downey Jr. (born April 4 1965) is an American actor and producer. His early career was characterized by popular and critical success. Then, he went through an era of addiction as well as legal issues, before achieving the return of commercial success later in his career. Time magazine named Downey among the top 100 influential people worldwide in 2008. From 2013 until the year 2015, Forbes listed him as Hollywood's highest-paid actor. He first made an appearance in Pound, the son of Robert Downey Sr.'s 1970 film. The Brat Pack was his next film, which included the teen films Weird Science (1985), and Less than Zero (1987). Downey played the title role in Chaplin's biopic, and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor. He also was awarded an award called the BAFTA Award.
