She is an American comedian, actress, writer, producer, director and investor as well as a podcaster. She began standup comedy in 2004, and became a frequent participant on the Chelsea Lately roundtable. After composing, producing, and starring in Whitney, a sitcom airing on NBC, she portrayed a semifictionalized, fictionalized version of herself. The series ran for two seasons before being removed in 2013. Cummings also created CBS' sitcom 2 Broke Girls in 2011.
