Bernard John Taupin, CBE (born 22 May 1950), is a famous English musician, singer, and visual artist. His long-running collaboration with Elton John, one of the most successful collaborations in songwriting ever is the reason he's most well-known. Taupin composed the lyrics for the majority of John's hits. In the year 1967, Taupin responded to an advertisement in New Musical Express by Liberty Records. John responded to the same advertisement and the two have worked on numerous albums together. John and Taupin were both inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame 1992. John was the son of Robert Taupin, and Daphne and Daphne, daughters of John Leonard Palchett Poppy Cort who was a University of Cambridge classics instructor, and the former Rector of Sale, Greater Manchester (then was known as Cheshire).
