Robert James Ritchie, born 17 January 1971, is an American musician, rapper and singer. His music is a blend of hip-hop, country, and rock. Kid Rock is an aspiring musician who says he plays every instrument in the band he is in. He also manages the production of two of his albums. Kid Rock began his music career as a rapper and DJ. He released his debut album Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast (1990) through Jive Records. The albums he released on his own The Polyfuze Method (1993) and Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp(1996) revealed that he was developing distinct style. The result was evident on his seminal album Devil Without a Cause (1998) that sold 14 million copies. Cocky (2001) was his follow-up album, was praised for blending elements of hip hop, country and rock. "Cowboy" is the most popular of his songs, came out in 1999. It is believed to be the most important song in the field of country hip-hop. The top selling singles include "Picture", (2002) and "All Summer Long," (2008). His music output, beginning with Rock n Roll Jesus in 2007 has been geared towards country and rock.
