The People of the State of California v. Orenthal James Simpson is a criminal case that is pending in Los Angeles County Superior Court. O. J. Simpson was a former broadcaster, player and actor from the National Football League (NFL) was acquitted and tried of murder in the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. In the evening of June 12th in 1994, the two were stabbed and attacked outside Brown's Brentwood condo. Beginning on November 9, 1994, the day that the jury was sworn in, the trial ran for eleven months. The opening statements were delivered by Simpson on January 24 in 1995. Simpson was found not guilty of murder on the 3rd of October 1995, despite the overwhelming evidence. The trial began just following the 1992 Los Angeles Riots. It is believed that Simpson was cleared of murder and attempted murder charges. Due to its global media coverage the trial was dubbed the trial of the century. It's also known as the "most well-known" criminal trial in human history.
