Patti LaBelle

 Patricia Louise Holte (born May 24, 1944)best known as Patti LaBelle, is an American actress, singer, and businesswoman. LaBelle is known as the "Godmother of Soul".She started her career in the late 1960s as the lead vocalist and frontwoman of the group vocal Patti LaBelle as well as the Bluebelles. After the group's name change to Labelle in the late 1970s and the release of their number-one single "Lady Marmalade". As a result, after the split in the year 1976, LaBelle began a successful solo career. It began with her critically acclaimed debut album featuring the track that would define her career, "You Are My Friend". LaBelle became a mainstream solo artist in 1984 after the success of singles "If Only You knew", "Love, Need and Need You" (later included in 2002's "Dilemma"), "New Attitude" and "Stir It Up". Two years later, in the year 1986, LaBelle scored a number-one album, Winner in You and its top duet single "On My Own" along with Michael McDonald.In 1989, Be Yourself led to the classic "If You Asked Me To" (later recorded by Celine Dion).
