American actor and comedian Steven John Carell is /k@’rel/. He was born on August 16, 1962. He was the lead character Michael Scott in The Office (2005-2011; 2013) The Office, NBC's version of the British series created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, where Carell was also an occasional producer, writer and director. Carell has received many awards for his performances in both TV and in film, such as the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy for his work on The Office. Life magazine named him America's Most hilarious person. He also gained recognition for his role as a reporter on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart between 1999 and 2005. He was later a star in a number of comedy films including Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) and its 2013 sequel The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), Evan Almighty (2007), Get Smart (2008), Date Night (2010), Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011) and The Way, Way Back (2013). He voiced Over the Hedge (2006) and Horton Hears A Who! (2008) as well as Despicable Me (2010-present).
